Impact on wildlife

Global warming is always discussed in the pretext of its adverse effects. All the environmentalists and nature lovers debate about the consequences of global warming on human life and the generations to come. Many life forms on earth are on the brink of extinction. National Wildlife Federation have termed global warming as dangerous threat to the existence of wild life. Although human beings have many options to thwart off the threat of Global warming but other living species are left with no option other than to finish forever from the face of earth.

Here are some of the species of animals which are subjected to bear the brunt of global warming:

On hearing very word Global warming one species that remind us about plight is Polar bears. Most of us associate Polar bears and global warming. Polar bears are always haunted by media due to their appearance. They depend on sea ice for their survival. Many of them swim long distances to hunt for seals. They can only swim through the ice sheets. The thinning ice sheets leave very less space for the polar bears to hunt. Although many of them may not perish due to the thinning ice sheets but they may surely perish due to the lack of food in the sea.

There are more to Polar bears and global warming some of the other species that are being severely affected by global warming are

  • Penguins
When many of us think of global warming we naturally associate
Polar bears and global warming but now we should also start associating Penguins with it.
Visions of Antarctica is never complete without waddling, tuxedoed penguins. Penguins generally depend on krill shrimp for their diet. These krill shrimp resides in algae. Algae can only grow in the ice sheets or ice water. So once when ice melts these algae cannot grow so it will severely affect the Penguins.

  • Migratory birds
Many of the migratory birds are severely affected by temperature increases. They choose their migratory paths based on the temperature of the place. So watching these birds may be feast to the eyes but it may also lead to some negative consequences on the birds. These birds are bound to some particular pattern of food hunting. Once they are made to choose different path that may cause disturbances in life style of these birds who travel to long distances to spent their winters and lead normal life.

  • Arctic Foxes: Arctic Foxes and Global warming should be the next global warming concern. Like polar bears these animals also depend on heavy ice sheets to survive. They are also covered with fur. They dig burrows in winter to warm themselves against winter chill. Due to shrinking of ice sheets these Arctic Foxes are driven to north to search for more cooler temperatures.

Difference in timings of seasonal behaviors like breeding, migration can be termed as most immediate consequences of global warming.

To save precious wildlife from extinction it is very important to keep control over our activities which will bring harm to the nature.
